Guests of Arte Spa & Park Hotel often ask us: „Can I stay in the water all day?“.
The short answer is: Not if you want to reap health benefits. The long answer, which will help you plan the perfect spa vacation, lies in understanding how mineral water interacts with your body.
The golden rule: 20 minutes of activity, 20 minutes of rest
Unlike ordinary water, mineral water is „alive“ and saturated with chemical elements that interact with our body through the skin (by osmosis). Balneologists recommend that a session in the waters should last between 15 and 20 minutes.
After this period, the body becomes saturated with useful substances, and the heat begins to load the cardiovascular system more than necessary for relaxation. The recommended cycle for a healthy spa experience is:
- 15-20 minutes stay in the mineral pool.
- 20-30 minutes resting outside the water (on a deck chair, wrapped in a bathrobe).
- Hydration (tea or water).
This cycle can be repeated 2 to 3 times, but no more to avoid overloading.
Mineral vs. Ordinary pool: what's the difference?
Many people approach mineral pools like those at city beaches or sports complexes, but the difference is fundamental.
1. Chemical composition and density
In an ordinary swimming pool, the water is purified (often chlorinated) and its purpose is mainly hygienic and cooling. In a mineral pool, the water is a rich solution of salts, gases and minerals. It has a higher density, which changes the way the body floats and exerts a stronger hydrostatic pressure on the blood vessels.
2. Temperature factor
Ordinary pools are kept cooler (around 26-28°C) to encourage swimming. Mineral pools in Arte Spa, powered by thermal springs, maintain a temperature close to body temperature or higher (33-36°C). Warm water dilates blood vessels and lowers blood pressure, leading to deep relaxation, but also requiring more frequent breaks.
3. „The silent training“
Even if you are not actively swimming, standing in warm mineral water speeds up your metabolism and heart rate. Your body works while you rest. 20 minutes in a mineral pool equals a light cardio workout for the heart.
The treasure of Arte Spa: the water from the spring „Mizinka“
At Arte Spa & Park Hotel, we don't just use water, we use history and health, springing from the bowels of the earth. Our complex is fed by a mineral spring (borehole #3) „Mizinka“.
- Origin: The spring was captured in 1960 г.
- Depth: The water comes from 271 metres depth, ensuring its purity.
- Temperature: At the spring it reaches the impressive 87.7 °C, as in our pools is cooled to comfortable for the body degrees.
This water has a proven balneological assessment. It is an indispensable assistant in relieving accumulated stress, improves peripheral circulation and has a pronounced beneficial effect on the skin, making it soft and supple.
Our water facilities
To enjoy these properties to the fullest, we have provided space for everyone:
- Indoor swimming pool: With sizes 25.3 x 7.80 m - ideal for swimming and gymnastics.
- Outdoor swimming pool: With sizes 22 x 9 m, allowing a connection with nature in all seasons.
- Children's pools: Dedicated areas (inside and outside) with safe depth for our youngest guests.
What happens if we overdo it?
Have you heard of the term „Spa fatigue.“ (or balneological reaction)? If you stay in the water for more than an hour without a break, instead of feeling invigorated, you may feel faint.
Symptoms of excessive downtime include:
- Slight dizziness (due to a drop in blood pressure).
- Drowsiness and heaviness in the limbs.
- Heart palpitations.
This is a signal to the body that it is oversaturated with minerals and heat.
3 Tips for maximum effect
To turn your stay at Arte Spa into a real therapy:
- Drink plenty of water: Warm mineral water stimulates the release of toxins through sweating (even if you don't feel it in the water). Rebalance with at least 500 ml of water or herbal tea after each session.
- Do not take a shower immediately: After getting out of the pool, rinse with clean water or let the minerals work on the skin for a while (the „salt mantle“ continues to heal after the pool). Note: Always shower BEFORE entering the pool.
- Combine with fresh air: After the warm pool, step out briefly onto the terrace or outdoor pool area. The contrast between the warm mineral effect and the fresh mountain air tempers the immune system.
Health is in the water, but wisdom is in the measure. We look forward to welcoming you to Arte Spa & Park Hotel to discover the balance together.
